HB Cliffs Surf Photos

Gary HyblThe HB cliffs sometimes has surf ...

Gary came in from his bike ride and was about to head out for work.  I said "are you nuts?"  Get your board paddle out and catch three or four waves and then go to work.  Oh Yeah, he caught some waves.

Mark Freeman and companyHB cliffs other days ...

it is not always a good idea to pack your car with a bunch of people and come surf these surf breaks.  The more you bring the more chance they gonna have to catch their quota and they will take off on you!

Ask Mark, he will tell you all about it!

Still on other days the HB cliffs ...

can hold a whole bunch of people and everyone catching waves!

The place can be magic when it is going off!

a HB cliffs surf story...

While shooting at the HB Cliffs a few weeks ago, I came across this young surfer walking up the beach.  What drew my attention to the lad was that as he was walking toward me approximately seventy-five yards distant, I saw something the off-shore winds were causing to swinging back and forth behind him.  It was something I have not seen in easily thirty plus years.  The kid was wearing a O'Neill long johns and beaver-tail jacket circa 1974.  I walked over to him and we chatted for a bit and he told me the wetsuit was a "retro" wetsuit he got a HSS.  I told him thanks for taking me back to my childhood and told him to go catch some waves.  Wow, I was in hog heaven watching this kid surf in that good o'l beaver tail.

If you want to learn...learn the Surf Lesson Secret

If you have tried surfing you know first hand it is not as easy as it looks.  You also know that if you do not know what you areLocals catching a few waves doing you can get hurt, disabled and possibly killed!

Surfing is a "Proactive" Athletic Activity!  Proactive means keeping your eyes open and staying alert to your surroundings.  When I shot this photo there were surfers on both side no more than 150 to 200 feet away and they all missed this spectacle!

Surfing looks easy but it take years and years to master.  Surfing  can be an art form, a sport, but most of all, it's a lifestyle!

Hint:
Learn the Surfing skills you'll need to Surf!
