Frequently Asked Questions, faq
There is no such thing as a stupid question if you do not know the answer. It takes courage to ask a question and it is the sign of maturity.
These questions have been posed by students, friends and visitors to the Surf-Connection Surf Post bulletin board. enjoy:)
Q: Do wipe-outs hurt?
A: most of the time only if you land wrong.
That having been said; as the waves get bigger so does the magnitude
of the impact of a fall. Especially if you land wrong or put
yourself in the wrong place on the wave at the wrong time.
Q: Where do you go when you wipe-out?
A: On small wave you sink and slow down as the wave
passes over you. As a result you are left in the waves wake,
which is turbulent until the wave's energy dissipates. Then
you pop up for air using your hands above you to protect yourself
from your surfboards stored energy.
Q: My arms are sore and I got a rash on
the insides of my triceps which stings?
A: get yourself into paddling shape using a well
defined exercise regime and where a "Rash Guard" while surfing
especially if you wear a wetsuit.
Q: Where do you put your car keys when
you go surfing?
A: I ride my bike so that is not a problem for me.
But for those with cars, take the door key and put it into the key
holder of your wetsuit or leash which was designed for that purpose.
Let a non-surfing friend hold them for you while you are out in the
water.
Q: How long will it take me to learn to
surf?
A: Everyone is different but I have never had a
student not learn to stand up and ride. In my experience only
a day or so of dedicated application of the
Surf
Lesson Secrets.
